“Pain is the business I am in,” Louise Bourgeois once said. We remember, and we live by the past, especially when justice remains unserved, when loss becomes a constant companion. This collection, Pain's Everlasting Footprint (Artistic Interpretation of Memory), reflects the persistence of these memories and the weight they carry. Centered on the resilience and strength of women—some of whom are my close family members, others the brave participants of the Women, Life, Freedom movement in Iran—this project seeks to honor their courage in the face of profound adversity. This project seeks to visually capture the elusive, complex nature of memory, weaving together personal and collective experiences of the past and present. My illustrations aim to reflect vulnerability, resilience, and unity, portraying the profound stories of individuals, particularly those affected by the recent protests in Iran. The goal is to express the persistence of memory in shaping our current realities, illustrating how the past lingers and intertwines with the present. Through abstract forms, layers of color, and distorted imagery, I hope to evoke the emotional resonance of moments that are both deeply personal and universally recognizable.
